SGA encourages vaccinations on campus

At their weekly meeting on Nov. 1, the Student Government Association of Northwestern State University of Louisiana passed a resolution encouraging NSU campuses to get vaccinated, expressing support for the vaccine.

Senators Murphy and Jonatan Jimenez sponsored R. F. 2021-06, stating “NSU students, faculty, and staff have a responsibility of stopping the spread of COVID-19 not only among the university but also throughout the Natchitoches community.”

“The Student Government Association supports the university’s decision in trying to continue to make Northwestern State safe while still providing the university experience to all students as well as working to reduce students’ chances of becoming seriously ill with COVID-19.”

Academic Commissioner Nicholas Cooksey said that the contract for the current interim director of the Watson Library, William Brent, will end in November, with Megan Lowe taking over as the new director in December.

Student Affairs Commissioner Bailey Willis reported that Wellness Week is taking place this week, with the Wellness Fest being in the Wellness, Recreation and Activity Center on Tuesday, Nov. 2 from 10 to 2 p.m.
