English Department names new department head

NSULA Department of English, Foreign Languages, and Cultural Studies

Thomas Reynolds was named as the new Head of the Department of English, Foreign Languages, and Cultural Studies.

On Nov. 29, Thomas Reynolds was named as the new Head of the Department of English, Foreign Languages, and Cultural Studies.

For the past 20 years, Reynolds has been a part of Northwestern State University’s English faculty as an associate professor. He also holds the position of interim head at Louisiana Scholars’ College.

Kim-tang Eung, a junior English major, said he is happy for Reynolds.

“Dr. Reynolds will give a lot of opportunities and changes to the English department,” Eung said.

Anna Jackson, a sophomore secondary education major, said he is a wonderful leader.

“He genuinely wants people to succeed,” Jackson said.

Kristina Simon, junior liberal arts major, said the position was ideal for Reynolds.

“He was an awesome scholar’s director, and we are going to miss him,” Simon said. “But this is exactly what he wanted to do.”

Lakin Smith, junior secondary education major, said Reynolds’s qualities as a professor will carry over in his new role.

“He cares about his students,” Smith said.

Reynolds is officially set to fill the role starting Jan 3.
