Members of the Student Government Association at Northwestern State of Louisiana voted on senator and new senator of the year.

On March 3, members of the Student Government Association at Northwestern State of Louisiana voted on senator and new senator of the year.

SGA President Tja’h Edwards announced that SGA will promote Swipe out Hunger.

Commissioner Kyle Courville reported that Jennifer Kelly confirmed that the elevators in John S. Kyser Hall are being repaired. Courville announced that he will be meeting with Patric DuBois to discuss the dress code implemented by the Wellness Recreation and Activity Center. Courville announced that March 17 is “Safe Spring Break” day.

Commissioner Nicholas Cooksey announced that he received complaints from students about the availability of scantrons provided by SGA. Cooksey reported that scantrons are available in the SGA office and in the Eugene P. Watson Memorial Library. Cooksey noted that students are limited to one scantron a day.

Senator Andrew Wesley noted that students are being unlawfully searched on campus when returning from Holiday breaks. President Edwards announced that she will arrange for the campus police to speak at a future meeting.

Senator Mary Scurggs announced that students do not feel safe at night due to poor lighting on campus. Mary-Katherine Horton reported that the university is currently working on fixing the issue.

Commissioner Juliana Lummus announced Mariah Kador and Jaion Williams as senators of the week.

University Programming Council member, Marrisa Rowsey reported that next week UPC will be hosting Drag Queen Cuisine and Holistic Wellness.

Senators Alexandria Walker and Johnatan Jimenez sponsored R.S. 2022-07 which is to encourage NSU students, faculty, and staff to park in the celebration of Women’s History Month.
