Northwestern State University of Louisiana hosted a community event called Bathe-A-Dog Day, this Friday Sept. 15 people can once again attend this service.
Former Vet Tech student Britney explains that students were able to volunteer and learn how to properly clean a dog, and other skills it takes to become a vet. People outside of campus were able to come in and bring their dogs for the perfect spa day.
“My favorite part about bathe the dog day is getting to teach the underclassmen how the whole process works on communicating with the client, as well as how to bathe them and all the things necessary,” Britney Pope, a veterinary technology student, said.
The environment is filled with students enjoying themselves, working extremely hard as a team, being gentle with the dogs and showing the passion they have in this field. Attendees can see the results in how comfortable each dog was, and how happy they were returning back to their owners.
To participate in this event there is no registration required. The event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room 106 of Bienvenu Hall. Prices range from $13 to $34 depending on how much the dog weighs.
“We brought our dogs over here from Sabine Parish for the bathe the dog day. It’s a great program,” Moral Jenkins, NSU alumni, said. “We bring our dogs here as often as we can, when they have it, they do a great job and it’s not that much of a cost.”
Everyone in the community is invited to bring their dogs and take advantage of this service.
“The set up here is amazing. The students are great, they work really hard and you can just tell they have a great relationship with pets,” Mark Wollemann, attendee, said.
