Louisiana native and CBS News contributor David Begnaud is launching a powerful new storytelling initiative to spotlight college students who embody kindness, resilience, and community impact.
Begnaud, a proud 2005 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, shared his vision Monday with representatives from all 32 public postsecondary institutions and members of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges & Universities (LAICU).
His goal? To bring national attention to the inspiring efforts of Louisiana’s students who are making a real difference.
Selected stories will air in 2025 as part of his “Beg-Knows America” series on CBS Mornings, amplifying the voices of young changemakers across the state.
“David is not only one of America’s great storytellers he is one of our own,” said Commissioner of Higher Education Kim Hunter Reed. “So, of course we jumped at this national opportunity to highlight the best of our college students – people who are making real impacts in the lives of others. I know our students are eager to participate.”
“Few things make me happier than celebrating the people of Louisiana on the national stage,” said Begnaud. “For this project, I’m looking for college students to tell us about a peer, friend, or stranger who is doing something extraordinary to help another person. Those are the kind of stories that unite people, and I’m passionate about pursuing them.”
Know a student with a remarkable story? David is looking for students who want to nominate or celebrate a student peer who’s doing something incredible for someone else. Send your nominations to [email protected] for a chance to be featured!
