Northwestern State University’s student population is incredibly diverse, with every student having a unique sense of style. Students like to represent themselves and show their fashion creativity through their everyday outfits. Across campus, students can be seen dressed in anything from casual wear to suits and dresses.
Jordan Kirts is a sophomore music education major who loves being able to showcase their style with their outfits. “I wear what I’m feeling that day,” Kirts said. “If I’m tired, I wear sweatpants and a shirt.”
Other students are involved in various campus organizations that require them to attend meetings and events throughout the day, not always leaving time for an outfit change.
Chris James is a senior communication major who takes pride in appearing polished. “I try to be casual but professional at the same time because I go to many different meetings throughout the day,” James said. “I try to look nice in case I am ever needed for an event or someone important comes into my office.”
Though many students dress in their chosen styles, that is not the case for everyone. Some, such as nursing majors, must follow dress codes in their classes. Madison Wray, a junior nursing major, shows her pride in NSU through her attire. Wray typically wears her NSU scrub uniform to class and, depending on the weather, will opt for a raincoat.
To encourage students to showcase more school spirit, NSU asks that those on campus wear the college’s signature purple every Friday. Even faculty and staff members show their pride by wearing purple, making the campus feel more connected through displaying their support for the university.
