Northwestern State University’s Shreveport campus is otherwise known as the Nursing and School of Allied Health Education Center. It is located on Line Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana, and provides an educational environment for nursing and allied health majors.
The campus has four main buildings: the Line Avenue School, the Library Building, the Faculty Tower and the Warrington Building. Within these buildings, students can find computer centers, skills labs, classrooms, lecture halls, offices for both administration and student organizations and the Northwestern State University Child and Family Network offices.
Students in clinicals utilize facilities in the area such as hospitals, medical centers, clinics, nursing homes, public health agencies and more. Currently, approximately 1000 students are enrolled in the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health on the Shreveport campus.
Students looking to experience both the Shreveport campus and the Natchitoches main campus are allowed to commute between the campuses. Many nursing students often take their lecture classes on the Natchitoches campus, then commute to Shreveport for their clinical and lab courses. This allows students to experience both campuses and cities and be exposed to new environments.
The Shreveport campus is in an opportune location to provide students in nursing and allied health programs all the resources they need. With the campus located near five partnering hospitals, it is no wonder why NSU students enjoy being at the Shreveport campus.
