Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, commonly known as Tri Sigma, is one of three sororities in the College Panhellenic Council at Northwestern State University. It is a sisterhood filled with women who are bonded in keeping the values of faith, love, hope, wisdom and power close to their hearts.
Tri Sigma is a diverse group of girls who come together to bring new sets of skills and unique ideas to make their chapter the best it can be. Corinne Boudreaux is a sophomore biology major who joined Tri Sigma to become a part of something bigger than herself. “From girls in CAPA to girls in business, nursing, biology, communication, athletics, cheer, Purple Pizzazz Pom Line, Demon Dazzlers, the Spirit of Northwestern, the Potpourri, PLP, Freshman Connection and any other organization on campus, Tri Sigma is a blend of the things that makes this university special,” Boudreaux said.
Peyton Fuller is a junior veterinary technology and biology major who recommends that all young women consider Tri Sigma. “I think what makes Tri Sigma so special is how diverse our chapter is and how we reach almost all corners of campus. We are all involved in different organizations and represent Tri Sigma proudly all across campus,” Fuller said. “We are all so diverse culturally and with our ideas! At the end of the day, we are brought together by our bonds of sisterhood, our values and our drive for success.”
The sorority offers a sense of family and friendship that many search for when going to college, providing its members with connections for life. Kate Evans is a junior business administration major who feels everyone should consider rushing and making Tri Sigma their new home. “What I love most about Tri Sigma are the real, lasting friendships you make. No matter where we are on campus, you’re bound to run into a sister,” Evans said. “It’s an amazing organization with a strong bond and meaningful rituals that connect us for life.”
Boudreaux also loves the familial connections that Tri Sigma offers. “My favorite thing about Tri Sigma is that it has given me so many opportunities to grow and step out of my comfort zone in an environment where I am cared for and supported,” Boudreaux said. “My sisters always have my back and believe in me. I always know that I have a group of women that will cheer me on and be there for me as we go through college and beyond together.”
Boudreaux also encourages girls to go through the recruitment process, even if they’re not particularly interested in Greek life. “It exposed me to friendships that otherwise, I probably would not have explored,” Boudreaux said. “It has enabled me to grow as a woman, a friend, a sister and a leader, and it has helped me to be involved in other things on campus that my sisters are involved in outside of Tri Sigma. It has positively affected my life in all aspects.”
Fuller is Tri Sigma’s vice president of new member education and loves seeing the growth in young women who join the sorority’s ranks. “I honestly don’t think that I would have the confidence that I do without my experiences in Tri Sigma and the women that support me and have empowered me,” Fuller said.
Throughout the year, Tri Sigma stands out for its participation in a multitude of events. “One thing that makes Tri Sigma stand out is that we’re involved in almost everything at Northwestern State. From Freshman Connection to Gala performances, you’ll see us there!” Evans said.
Boudreaux shared this sentiment while recalling Tri Sigma’s homecoming involvement. “Lip-sync practices during homecoming week were a time where we were all being goofy together and having fun while being competitive,” Boudreaux said. “It is so fun to cheer on our sisters and watch them dance. It’s even better when we can take home the big win!”
Overall, Tri Sigma is about young women growing together and developing amazing traits while finding lifelong families. “Tri Sigma is a group of beautiful, diverse women who share bonds of friendship and sisterhood through our values,” Fuller said. “We are a sisterhood dedicated to going the extra mile in service and leadership on campus and in our communities.”
Boudreaux is also incredibly thankful for the love and support that the sorority gave her. “Tri Sigma has become a defining part of who I am as a person and what I value. It has given me confidence and provided me with so many blessings, just as it has with countless women across the country and here within NSU,” Boudreaux said. “I am so thankful that I got out of my comfort zone and decided to rush when I came to college because it has benefited my life in so many ways.”
