Lia Portillo is a senior communication major, and this is her second year as editor-in-chief of The Current Sauce. Since joining her freshman year, Portillo has seen a variety of changes and hopes to make a difference in student media. “I hope that, beyond me, The Current Sauce can be a place where people come in and give tips to investigate, and they can trust it as a credible source,” Portillo said.
Madelyn Murphy is a junior communication major who works as a photo editor, with plans to pursue photography full time after college. “My favorite thing about working for The Current Sauce is the connections I’ve made,” Murphy said. “Lia is always cracking jokes and she always makes us laugh, so I love her for that.”
Kallie Bourgeois, a sophomore communication major, is The Current Sauce’s copy editor and president of the Society of Professional Journalists. Bourgeois plans to become a travel journalist and report news from around the world. “I am super excited to collaborate with the Society of Professional Journalists and The Current Sauce for student press freedom,” Bourgeois said.
NSU’s student media network keeps students from getting “lost in the sauce” of their studies and reports relatable and relevant news for all NSU students to stay informed as they balance a college life. The Current Sauce works tirelessly to develop and share the most interesting and prudent stories with everyone on campus, their student workers striving to provide the best news possible to their peers.
