SAB: What you need to know

Northwestern State University offers undergraduate students an opportunity to organize and create events for the rest of the student populous through an organization called SAB, otherwise known as the Student Activities Board.

SAB is comprised of an executive board, event directors, and event coordinators, who, in conjunction with student volunteers, facilitate many of the activities that our university advertises.

The Executive Board facilitates meetings and manages SAB as a whole, and they are comprised of: Bralyn James, President; Brea Housley, Vice President; Emily Benoit, PR&A; and Kennedy Cullen, Business Manager.

The event directors plan and organize events throughout the year. These members include Caelon Powells “Bubba,” Camren Green, Maya Porter, Darius “Nugget,” Reagan Escudé, Tre Jackson and Trent Starks.

The event coordinators help the event directors plan events. These members include: Logan Esthay, Char Wilson, Jhalon Thomas and Jada Dudley.

New Event Coordinators for this school year include: Treniya Wadley, Tore’a Taylor, Tarik Andrus, Keiona Guy, Juwan Manuel and Shelbi Rials.

Kennedy Cullen listed some of the events SAB will be hosting this year, some of which have already happened. SAB helped to facilitate move-in day for freshman, and partnered with SGA to send students to Texas A&M for the Demons first home game.

SAB will also be tailgating at all the home games this year, starting with the first one on Sept. 8. They will organize the famous Lady of the Bracelet pageant scheduled for Sept. 15, and various others throughout the course of the semester, including homecoming and Winter Wonderland to conclude the semester.

“I’m most excited to see how they grow at the end of the year,” SAB President Bralyn James said. “I’m just here to advise them on what to do; they make it happen.”
