The rumors are true, Demons: The Grill, located on the first floor of the Friedman Student Union, is on its way out, and Steak ‘n Shake is on its way in.

“We are in the process of making this true,” says Jennifer Kelly, Director of Auxiliary Services. “We have been working with Sodexo and the Steak ‘n Shake representative to make this a reality here at Northwestern State.”

Though the plans are still in the early stages, Kelly is excited at the possibility to continue to diversify on-campus eating options.

Plans to extend the space that is currently The Grill is also in the works.

“If all goes well, we hope to move the Sodexo office, remove the brick, and add glass, just like at Café DeMon,” Kelly said.

Some students are thrilled at the idea of making this a reality.

“I think a Steak and Shake will be a good way to give students more options, especially for me, someone who has never tried it before!” says Emma Wallace, a junior here at NSU.

Students will be able to use their declining balance to purchase food from Steak ‘n Shake.

“Steak ‘n Shake is my favorite place to eat, so I’m sure I will be eating there a lot,” says Allie Wintz, junior.

The time frame for this project is still unknown.
