The Northwestern State football team has had some remarkable games this season, winning two games in conference play and taking a very close loss to Eastern Illinois.

Northwestern State will be looking for some big plays from their star players to secure a win against Southeast Missouri in front of their homecoming crowd on Oct. 22.

Starting quarterback Zachary Clement had a big game in the loss to Eastern Illinois, completing 37 passes for 343 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Zach Patterson also had a great game with 12 receptions for 167 yards.

Javon Antonio should play a crucial role in how this game plays out for the Demons as the star wide receiver who averages 73.0 yards a game.

The key for the Demons will be finding out what kind of team they truly are and who they need to be play after play.

Of the loss to Eastern Illinois coach Brad Laird said (according to assistant athletics director for media relations Jason Pugh), “As we go back and look at the full 60 minutes, we know what type of football team we are – the team that played the way they should in the second half.”

“We’re a never-say-die team, that’s the mentality we want,” said Clement.

Going into the Oct. 15 game against Houston Christian, the Demons were looking to get back on the winning track after the loss to Eastern Illinois. A win on the road would boost morale heading into homecoming week.
