Northwestern State University’s Lady Demon softball began its 2025 season with new head coach Jenny Fuller and a young team. While the team had a record of 7-43 overall for the season, it did not discourage them, but solidified their desire to improve and succeed in future seasons.
Brynn Daniel, a sophomore communication major, is a utility player for the team and believes the team’s biggest improvement from the 2025 season was their overall performance. “We are definitely better this year in all aspects of the game. Our pitching staff is deeper, our defense is cleaner and our overall batting average has gone up,” Daniel said.
Daniel’s favorite memory from the season was beating Mississippi State University and proving the team’s talent. “Beating Mississippi State 5-0, when they were ranked #20 in the nation. It was a huge moment for us, and really showed that we had talent, even if our record did not reflect it,” Daniel said.
Daniel described the 2025 season as a learning curve for the next season’s success that will help them better compete for wins at conferences and regional competitions.
While the team has been focused on working and improving to be better in the next season, members like Brooklynn Stohler, a sophomore exercise major and pitcher for the team, believe that the team’s closeness is also important within the sport. “I feel that our team is different from others because I believe any of us would do anything for one another. We all love the sport and each other,” Stohler said.
Going into the 2026 season, the Lady Demons are bringing competitive energy and spirit to every team they play against. The team hopes that the experience and growth they’ve gained will lead them to an even more successful season.
