The Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System sat down and discussed the search process for finding a new president.

The Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System held a meeting on Aug. 24 to discuss the search for a new president of Northwestern State University.

Jim Henderson, president of the University of Louisiana System, reported that the search process will be transparent.

Students, staff, faculty and citizens of Natchitoches will be involved. After candidates are selected, the interviews will be streamed online.

Public forums will be made available for input from the community and NSU campus body.

Henderson announced that it is vital to select the best person to lead NSU.

Individuals that attended the meeting were allowed to voice their concerns and brought up topics such as: lack of engagement within the community, more face-to-face classes and adaptations for rural students.

Henderson reported that the president could be announced as soon as Nov. 8.
